What DNS records actually tell you
DNS is the system that translates a domain name into the server addresses and configuration that make a website, email, and other services work. This tool queries live DNS servers directly and returns every record type currently published for a domain — the same data your browser and mail server use behind the scenes every time you visit a site or send an email.
What the results mean
1
A / AAAA records
The IP address (IPv4 or IPv6) the domain resolves to — this is what makes a domain load your website instead of an error page.
2
MX records
Which mail servers handle email for the domain, and in what priority order. Missing or incorrect MX records are the most common cause of "email not being delivered."
3
NS records
The authoritative nameservers for the domain — these determine which DNS provider actually controls the records you see here.
4
TXT records
Free-text entries used for domain verification, and for email authentication standards like SPF and DKIM.
5
CNAME records
Aliases that point one hostname to another — commonly used for www, subdomains, and connecting third-party services like a CDN or email marketing platform.
